 Cette revue d'études celtiques, l'une des principales, est difficile à consulter en Bretagne. Les collections complètes sont fort rares. On y trouve des articles rédigés en allemand, mais également en anglais, en français... et il y a même un texte en breton, une traduction de l'écrivain autrichien Rilke (t. 19 1931-1933 p.101-109). Ce n'est pas la seule revue allemande à s'être occupé d'études celtiques. On peut citer Beiträge zur Vergleichenden Sprachforschung auf, dem Gebiete der Arischen, Celtischen und Salwischen Sprachen, fondée en 1858. Le breton n'y est pas absent grâce à un long article de Whitley Stokes sur les verbes irréguliers en moyen breton (Die mittlebretonischen , unregelmässigen verba (t.5 fasc.3 1867 p.306-362, t.6 fasc.2 1869 p.248-249). Citons encore Archiv für Celtische Lexikographie (3 vol., 1900, 1904, 1907) où Émile Ernault a fait paraître un important texte moyen breton, les cantiques du Doctrinal (t.1 1900 p.213-223, 360-393, 556-627). On y trouve également des articles de Joseph Loth. Mais Zeitschrift reste sans contexte la plus importante revue allemande de linguistique consacrée aux études celtiques. Elle paraît depuis plus de cent ans et est à mettre aux côtés d'autres revues, comme la Revue Celtique (1870-1934 - 51 tomes) ou les Études Celtiques (depuis 1936), sans parler, en langue bretonne, de Hor Yezh (créé en 1954).
