M. Lincoln (01/2015)

Translations

Neither of the following examples are easy to produce, and the speaker would prefer to avoid such structures in the discussion flow, hence the question mark. Judgements are however solid and I would say, reliable.

'these 22 nice mice'

The preferred translation for 'Regarde-donc ces vingt-deux gentilles souris', 'Look at these 22 nice mice' shows the order /DET Num Noun Num Adj Dem/. In (1), I notice a distinctive prosody on the adjective, and M. notices a fast pause before the adjective.

(1) OK/? Sell 'ta an div logodenn warn-ugent jentil -mañ.
regarde donc le deux.F souris.SG sur-vingt gentil -ci
'Regarde-donc ces vingt-deux gentilles souris.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln

The order /DET Num Noun Adj Num Dem/ is also possible, but disprefered.

(2) ? Sell 'ta an div logodenn jentil warn-ugent -mañ.
regarde donc le deux.F souris.SG gentil sur-vingt -ci
'Regarde-donc ces vingt-deux gentilles souris.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln

Other options are clearly ungrammatical.

(3) Sell 'ta an div (* jentil) logodenn warn-ugent -mañ (* jentil).
regarde donc le deux.F gentil souris.SG sur-vingt -ci gentil
'Regarde-donc ces gentilles vingt-deux gentilles souris.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln

'these 22 little mice'

With the adjective bihan 'petit', the order /DET Num Noun Num Adj Dem/ is possible, but disprefered. In (1), I notice a special prosody on the adjective, and M. notices a small pause before this adjective.

(1) ?/* Sell 'ta an div logodenn warn-ugent vihan -mañ.
regarde donc le deux.F souris.SG sur-vingt 1petit -ci
'Regarde-donc ces vingt-deux petites souris.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln

The preferred translation for 'Regarde-donc ces vingt-deux petites souris', 'Look at these 22 little mice' thus shows the order /DET Num Noun Adj Num Dem/.

(2) OK/? Sell 'ta an div logodenn vihan warn-ugent -mañ.
regarde donc le deux.F souris.SG 1petit sur-vingt -ci
'Regarde-donc ces vingt-deux petites souris.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln

Other options are clearly ungrammatical.

(3) Sell 'ta an div (* bihan) logodenn warn-ugent -mañ (* bihan).
regarde donc le deux.F petit souris.SG sur-vingt -ci petit
'Regarde-donc ces vingt-deux petites souris.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln

'these 34 white rocks'

For the translation of 'ces trente-quatre roches blanches', 'these 34 white rocks', the prefered order is /DET Num Noun Num Adj Dem/, with the distinctive prosody on the adjective, and/or the fast pause before the adjective.

(1) ?/OK Kas din ar pevar roc'h ha tregont gwenn -mañ.
envoie à.moi le quatre roche & trente blanc -ci
'Amène-moi ces trente-quatre roches blanches.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln

The order /DET Num Noun Adj Num Dem/ is also an option.

(2) ? Kas din ar pevar roc'h gwenn ha tregont -mañ.
envoie à.moi le quatre roche blanc et trente -ci
'Amène-moi ces trente-quatre roches blanches.'
Léon/Standard, M. Lincoln
