Item de polarité positive

Les items de polarité positive sont des éléments linguistiques restreints aux contextes positifs. Ils sont agrammaticaux avec une négation. Ils s'opposent aux items de polarité négative.


  • J'ai aimé le film quelque peu.
Je n'ai pas aimé le film (* quelque peu).
  • I liked the film somewhat.
I didn't like the film (* somewhat).


Pour l'hypothèqe que les éléments en some- en anglais ne sont pas des items de polarité positive, se reporter à Krifka (xxxx).

Certains items de polarité positive ont ce comportement uniquement dans certains environnements syntaxiques. Nog en Suédois de Finlande est compatible avec la négation lorsqu'il est postverbal (Jag vet nog inte vad han vill). A l'initiale de phrase cependant, nog est un item de polarité positive (Holmberg, GIST).
