 Thirty-First Annual Harvard Celtic Colloquium

 Call for Paper Proposals
 
 The Harvard Celtic Department cordially invites proposals for papers on topics which relate
 directly to Celtic studies (Celtic languages and literatures in any phase; cultural, historical or
 social science topics; theoretical perspectives, etc.) for their 31st Annual Celtic Colloquium, to take
 place at Harvard University, October 7 - 9, 2011. Papers concerning interdisciplinary research
 with a Celtic focus are also invited. Attendance is free.
 Presentations should be no longer than twenty minutes. There will be a short discussion period
 after each paper. Papers given at the Colloquium may later be submitted for consideration by the
 editorial committee for publication in the Proceedings of the Harvard Celtic Colloquium . 
 
 Potential presenters should send a 200-250 word abstract, plus a brief biographical sketch.
 Submissions should be sent by e-mail to hcc@fas.harvard.edu, faxed, or posted to the departmental
 address; we encourage submissions in the form of RTF or Word Document email attachments.

Meeting Description:
This conference is the annual meeting of the Celtic Studies Association of North
America (CSANA), an organization devoted to the study of all aspects of the
life, language, history, folklore, literature, and culture of the various Celtic
peoples.
Plenary speakers for this year's conference include Michelle Brown (University
of London), Peredur Lynch (University of Bangor), and Gearóid Ó Crualaoich
(University College, Cork).

 Un site wiki, Lexicon Leponticum, est en construction depuis 2009 sur la grammaire du lépontique.
 Le lépontique est une langue celtique continentale, aujourd'hui éteinte, qui était 
 parlée dans une partie de la Gaule Cisalpine du VIIe au IIe siècles av. J.-C.
 
 Le site est développé par David Stifter, Martin Braun, Eva Lettner et Marcel Schwarz, 
 du département de linguistique de l'université de Vienne.

 Le XIVème Congrès International des Etudes Celtiques aura lieu du 1 au 5 août 2011,
 à la National University of Ireland, Maynooth.
 L'appel à participation est lancé.

Eurominority vient d'éditer en poster une carte des langues d'Europe.

Le Conseil de l’Europe publie son troisième rapport sur les langues minoritaires au Royaume-Uni.

 Les langues régionales ou minoritaires protégées par la charte au Royaume-Uni sont
 le gallois, le gaélique d'Ecosse, l'irlandais, l'écossais, l'écossais d'Ulster, 
 le gaélique mannois et le cornique.
 Des langues celtiques, seul le breton n'est pas protégé par la charte européenne 
 des langues minoritaires, qui n'a pas été ratifiée par la France.

 Call for Submissions
 Garm Lu publishes a diverse collection of academic and artistic material pertaining to all aspects of the Celtic world
 on a semi-annual basis.  The journal is published by the University of Toronto Celtic Society, an undergraduate student 
 organisation affiliated with the Celtic Studies program at St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto.  
 Garm Lu also receives support from the Canadian Celtic Arts Association.  The journal has been publishing for over 
 twenty-five years and in the past has carried original material by such notables as Sorley MacLean, Seamus Heaney and 
 Ann Dooley.
 
 The editors welcome previously unpublished material in English or any Celtic language pertaining to the Celtic speaking
 peoples, their descendants or any aspect of the Celtic world.  Academic essays, interviews, poetry, short stories, 
 reminiscences, photography and artwork are all welcome.  Please send your submissions as email attachments to the Managing
 Editors at garmlu.uoft@gmail.com.  The deadline for submissions is February 26th, 2010 for the Spring 2010 issue.
 The journal circulates widely among the University of Toronto academic community as well as to a large number of subscribers

 The organizers of the International Celtic Congress which will take place in Maynooth, Ireland in 2011, have indicated 
 their willingness to host a session on theoretical issues in Celtic linguistics as part of the Congress, provided there 
 are sufficient papers. If you would like such a para-session to take place, please submit an abstract to the Comitteee 
 as soon as the call for papers is announced. You can go on the mailing list of the Congress by writing to

• A ce site s'adjoindra bientôt un site d'archive ouverte, où chacun.e pourra télécharger ou déposer des documents concernant l'étude formelle linguistique du breton. Ce site frère, contrairement au site ARBRES, sera ouvert à tout le champ de la linguistique formelle: morphologie, syntaxe mais aussi phonologie et sémantique. [MJ]
